The NoDegree Podcast – No Degree Success Stories for Job Searching, Careers, and Entrepreneurship

E157 | From Confused College Student to Dropout to Product Manager at The Home Depot–Ebony Johnson

Episode Summary

She changed her major 4 times in college before she dropped out. Then she got a job where she thought she was overpaid. But she was actually underpaid.

Episode Notes

Nobody makes $100k per year where she came from. So Ebony Johnson was quite happy making $45k per year working as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). She was so good that she taught CTR prep classes and presented at state and national conferences. Five years in, a start-up founder wanted her help with a software for oncologists. She became the mediator between the customers and the engineers. She transitioned into tech and didn’t even know it.

Listen in as she tells Jonaed about passing up a scholarship after high school, spending lots of money figuring out what she wanted to do in college and how she transitioned into the tech industry without even knowing it and earning more than she ever thought she could.
